As most of you know, our downstairs bathroom is in the midst of a remodel. I'd say our family does pretty well with living through construction. When the kitchen was torn apart for several weeks, we made due. We're doing the same now. It's a little harder to get Aidan up the stairs in time to potty and I'm sure it's tight when Jason and Aidan shower together. But overall no one has complained much about the inconvenience of having to travel upstairs for all of our bathroom needs.
But then there's the shopping. Jason has spent many hours at the various home stores picking up this and that. Our last two trips have been to buy things that we both needed to judge, so Aidan was forced to come along. He's becoming very familiar with Lowe's.
Last weekend we spent a few hours there and Aidan complained pretty much the whole time. Today I was wise. I packed snacks, coloring books, and the must-have portable DVD player. He laid in the cart watching Scooby-Doo for 2 1/2 hours while we were able to knock out the bulk of the remainder of the things we need.
While we were there, a very nice man who was running a kid's clinic gave Aidan a kit to make a wooden toolbox. Aidan was very excited about it even though he didn't really know what it was. He thought the long dowel that was supposed to be the handle was a hammer and he was confused about why there was no hammer included. Since the clinic was over when the man gave him the kit, we decided to put it together when we got home. It took all three of us to put it together. One parent to hold all the parts together and one parent to hold Aidan's hand while he hammered. In just a few minutes we'd successfully put together his box and now he has his very own little box to put things in!
