Grandpa was here all weekend, and Aidan was able to play with him while Jason and I worked on the upstairs ceiling. I'll just be very glad when the house is ready to put on the market. My estimation is that once Mom gets here next week, the house will be whipped into shape (she really has a way to get Jason motivated) and it will be on the market the next week. If only it could sell before May 30...
Grandpa brought the most beautiful book of classic fairy tales to read to Aidan. The art was amazing. And Aidan loved the stories! Grandpa read Hansel and Gretel many times, at Aidan's request, and it was the original version where Gretel pushes the witch into the oven and then the kids take off with the loot! Aidan wanted to know every detail of the story and why the characters made the decisions they did. He, most of all, wanted to know what a step mother was and why, in every story, the step mother was the one who threw out the children. (This is a common theme: Cinderella, Hansel and Gretel, Snow White, etc.)
On Sunday, Aidan woke up and crawled into bed with us. He'd forgotten about the Easter bunny and when I reminded him of it, he said he'd look later when it wasn't so cold. After just a few minutes, he thought better of it and went out to find some Play-doh eggs, Color Wonder, and Hungry, Hungry Hippo. And then he noticed that all the eggs he had colored on Saturday were gone! That bunny had hidden all of his eggs all over the house and he had to go around and find them all!
All in all, a pretty good weekend. Aidan loves having Grandpa down to tell him stories. These days Grandpa even tells bedtime stories over the speaker phone, so we won't be without those stories even in Lubbock.
