Jason informs me that Aidan definitely has a peanut allergy. This can be very serious. About 5% of all kids with peanut allergy outgrow it, but only if he goes for a very long time with zero exposure. He is to have absolutely no peanuts, peanut butter, peanut oil, or any peanut product. This includes anything that has been cooked with peanut anything. Pie crust from a pie with peanut butter in it qualifies as contaminated. In fact, foods made in factories that also make peanut containing products are considered off limits. Jason got Epi pens for Aidan and for me. The doctor said that for a person who has any nut allergy to go around with no Epi pen is playing "Russian Roulette." Dad and Lenny: YOU NEED AN EPI PEN IF YOU ARE ALLERGIC TO ANY NUTS! What may have given you a little reaction many times can suddenly kill you!
We will definitely be vigilant about this and will remind grandparents often, particularly if Aidan is to be watched by anyone other than us. In addition, it is the responsibility of all of us to keep him safe by trying not to serve peanut products at family gatherings, holiday dinners, etc. I know that you will all educate yourselves on this very serious allergy and that you will help us keep him safe.
